The Animal: We order the bird from a hatchery that ships day old chicks overnight to our farm. The animals are raised for approximately 9 weeks before butcher. The chickens kept for a couple of week inside until they are a little hardier and then they moved to chicken "tractors" that are made from recycled material and moved around the pasture daily. This provides the chicken with forage and insects to eat while benefiting the soil with manure.
The Feed: We feed them a grain mixture we buy at a local feed mill for growing meat birds.
The Butcher: We use a local butcher that uses humane methods of slaughter. They cut the meat to our specifications and package it for the freezer.
